The overall aims of the programme are to:

  • Create appreciation for the science of Big data.
  • Provide conceptual clarity to facilitate better understanding of use of Big Data.
  • Develop requisite skills to bring in and transformation of data using Hadoop.
  • Develop the understanding of various functions for analysis of Big Data in Hadoop.
  • Augment knowledge for interpretation and presentation of analyses.

Course Objectives

At the completion of the training the participants will be able to:

  • Define and describe Big Data.
  • Describe the various components of the Hadoop ecosystem.
  • Describe the role of MapReduce application.
  • Access Big data using Pig operators.
  • Use built in Hive operators and functions to summarize data.
  • Load Big data scenarios using Sqoop and Flume.
  • Perform real time read/write operations on Bigdata using Hbase.
  • Describe the zookeeper data model.

The three day training program on big data and Hadoop developer is a part of Sambodhi's endeavour to make Big data education available to those who want to harness the powers of Big data analytics to be more agile, efficient and competitive.

  • Introduction to Big data.
  • Overview of Hadoop ecosystem
  • Introduction to MapReduce.

Day 2

  • Pig basics .
  • Pig relational operators
  • Using Hive operators and functions .

Day 3

  • Loading scenarios using Sqoop and Flume .
  • Using Hbase shell
  • Introduction to Zookeeper data model.



In consonance with the programme design, the overarching training method is based on the principles of participatory adult learning that would build upon the experiential learning of participants. The programme pedagogy focuses on interactive group learning and aims both at knowledge development and skill upgradation through peer learning. Reading and resource material developed  by  leading  subject experts augments classroom experience. Training being a mutual learning process, the programme is built on the premise "I hear, I forget; I see, I remember; I do, I understand."



Indian Participants: INR 15,000 per participant

Foreign Participants: USD 600 per participant

(The fee covers tuition, reading and resource kit, certification, lunch and refreshments during the program. Participants need to make arrangements for travel and accommodation.)
